“Israelitización” del texto proto-masorético en los libros históricos (Josué-Reyes)

Along the process of textual transmission of the historical books Joshua-Kings) the variant readings mentioning “Israel” do increase clearly in number. “Israel” substitutes for, is juxtaposed to or is added to “people” (‘am) in different ways. This process of “israelitization” of the biblical text seems to have affected the proto-Masoretic text more than the Hebrew textual tradition attested by the Greek translation. The recensions of LXX and its secondary versions show this same tendency to increase the presence of the word “Israel”. The textual transmission continues and develops trends of the previous literary tradition, that extended the leading role of the tribal armies, the “people”, to “Israel”, to “all Israel” or to the “Israelites”. This phenomenon of “israelitization” affecting the textual biblical tradition and particularly the proto-Masoretic text sets the conditions for every lexical, literary or historical studies on the words and concepts “Israel” and “people”, which should be considered together and not, as it is customary, on an individual basis. This paper is chiefly an analysis of textual criticism on the variants that touch on the words “Israel” and “people” at the same time.En el proceso de transmisión textual de los libros históricos (Josué-Reyes) se observa un incremento del número de variantes referentes a “Israel”. Es término sustituye, se yuxtapone o se añade de una forma u otra al término “pueblo” (‘am). Este proceso de “israelitización” del texto bíblico parece haber afectado más al texto proto-masorético que al representado por la versión griega. Las recensiones de la traducción de los Setenta y las versiones secundarias de la misma muestran también esta tendencia a incrementar las apariciones del término “Israel”. La transmisión textual continúa y desarrolla así tendencias de la tradición literaria anterior, que extendía el protagonismo de los ejércitos tribales, “el pueblo” (`am) a “Israel”, a “todo Israel” o a los “israelitas”. Este fenómeno de “israelitización” que afecta a la tradición textual bíblica y en particular al texto protomasorético condiciona los estudios léxicos, literarios e históricos en relación con los términos “Israel” y “pueblo”, que han de ser tratados en relación de uno con otro y no aisladamente como suele ser el caso. El contenido del artículo es básicamente un estudio de crítica textual sobre las variantes que afectan conjuntamente a los términos “Israel” y “pueblo”
